Abstract
This important reference book contains key breed information about asses, buffaloes, cattle, goats, horses, pigs, and sheep. It lists names and synonyms that may be encountered in the literature, including those not only of breeds but also of other identifiable groups, types and varieties that have a common origin, or are similar in appearance or geographically linked. Each entry includes the current recommended English name, region or country of origin and (where known) notes on usage, followed by a brief physical description of the breed, in terms of colour/markings, horns and coat type. The fifth edition contains approx. 11 500 entries and cross-references, compared with 9000 in the previous edition.
