Abstract
This chapter is concerned with how socio-cultural and organizational concepts may help in better understanding the crisis management process in tourism destinations. It is envisaged that this understanding will be beneficial to governments and organizations by broadening their perspective about the issues involved in tourism destination crisis management. In an effort to respond to such an issue, the chapter addresses the background to the current tsunami crisis situation in Asia and examines the relationship between crisis management and three specific concepts: national or regional culture; leadership and resources; and how these concepts may influence the way the crisis management process could be executed.
