Abstract

Urban Solid Waste (USW) is a problem both in Brazil and in other parts of the world and this requires thinking about ways to mitigate its negative effects. Paper use has grown over 400% worldwide over the past 40 years. The consequence of this is the massive felling of trees and more trees, and this deforestation caused to produce paper is a great threat to the environment. In view of this fact, the main objective of this article is to develop a computational model to analyze the reduction in paper disposal. The results presented reinforce the importance of reducing solid waste and also encouraging the recycling of final stage products.
