Abstract
A 3-year study of methods of vegetatively propagating Amelanchier alnifolia has shown that: 1. hardwood cuttings are difficult to root; 2. root cuttings root readily; 3. leafbud cuttings show some promise but require further study; 4. softwood cuttings root readily if they are taken when the new growth is 3 to 6 inches long and placed in a mist propagating frame. Bottom heat at 70°F. lengthens the time when softwood cuttings can be taken while 0.3 per cent IBA in talc increases rooting.
