1. Testing of corneal sensitivity has the advantage that it requires no elaborate equipment, but it does need attention to the points already described in order to get reproducible results. It is advisable to repeat the test at regular intervals to check the validity of the initial findings and as a monitor of the success or otherwise of treatment. Eyes in which the scleritis is resolving show a return to normal corneal sensitivity. This was so even in the presence of so-called scleral thinning.
