Abstract

The present study investigated the independent association between actigraphy-based sleep duration, efficiency, and measures of blood pressure, heart rate, and muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA) in adult males and females. Contrary to our hypothesis, the findings do not support an independent association between habitual sleep and cardiovascular or sympathetic neural activity. However, these findings do not preclude a potential association between these parameters in populations with sleep disorders and/or cardiovascular disease.
