Abstract

We show that AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) phosphorylates NHE3 at S555 and S563 to inhibit NHE3 activity in intestinal epithelial cells. Phosphorylation of NHE3 by AMPK is necessary for ubiquitination of NHE3.
