Abstract

The 2-phospha-1,3-butadiene derivatives 3 are readily accessible by reduction of 2 with Mg. Sequential one-electron oxidation of 3 with GaCl₃ leads to the formation of radical cations 4 and dications 5 as crystalline solids.
