Abstract
The reactions of acetonitrile, propionitrile, butyronitrile, N,N-dimethylaminoacetonitrile, benzonitrile, o-tolunitrile and 1,4-dicyanobenzene with HF/AsF5 or HF/SbF5 in anhydrous HF result in protonation of the nitrile.
