Abstract

The scope of transition metal-catalyzed synthesis of functionalized γ-lactams has broadened tremendously in the last decade (see the picture). These metal-catalyzed processes are reviewed by highlighting their specificity and applicability, and the mechanistic rationale is presented where possible.
