New diterpenoid quinones derived from Salvia miltiorrhiza and their cytotoxic and neuroprotective activities

Abstract
A new tanshinone derivative, which possesses an unusual 6/6/5/6 fused-ring skeleton together with 4 new five-membered lactone benzohexa-membered ring compounds and 3 new carboxyl substituted 5,5-spiroketal compounds, were isolated from dried rhizomes of Salvia miltiorrhiza.
