Abstract

Efficient electro-refinery of biomass-derived glycerol to formic acid was achieved by controlling the phase composition of Ni(OH)2 to regulate its redox properties. The ‘adsorption–activation’ of ortho-hydroxyl groups in polyols was proposed.
