Ultra-low Ru-promoted CuCl2 as highly active catalyst for the hydrochlorination of acetylene

Abstract
We reported a synergy between Ru and Cu, obtaining a highly active catalyst for acetylene hydrochlorination, which improved the TOF of Cu to ca. 1.81 min−1 and showed that the Cu–Ru catalyst is an alternative to the toxic conventional HgCl2 catalyst.
