Abstract

Strong room-temperature blue-violet photoluminescence in BaMnF4 is derived from the Mott gap mediated d–d orbital transitions and the unusual abrupt drop of luminescence intensity at a wavelength of 400 nm was caused by the photon self-absorption effect.
