Personajes históricos en la Educación Primaria: ¿quiénes y para qué? La visión de los profesores en ejercicio

Abstract

Teachers' historical knowledge emerges from diverse historiographic, cultural and intrinsically educational influences on what history should be taught and how it should be taught. Therefore, this research aims to determine which historical figures emerge from the imaginary of Primary Education teachers, due to their historical relevance, their educational values and their connection with the present. The sample consisted of 105 teachers from various regions in Spain, who were questioned using a mixed-question instrument, which included both closed and open questions. The results show the pre-eminence of historical figures closely connected with national or regional identities, and with outstanding values of the present, which are given great historical significance and, in general, a high educational value. However, teachers tend to grant this educational value to the characters as a direct exemplification, positive or negative, of current democratic values, which they rarely problematize in their historical context. El conocimiento histórico de los docentes se nutre de diversas influencias historiográficas, culturales e intrínsecamente educativas, sobre lo que se debe enseñar de Historia y cómo se debe enseñar. Por ello, en esta investigación se quiere determinar qué personajes históricos emergen del imaginario de los y las docentes de Educación Primaria, por su relevancia histórica, sus valores educativos y su conexión con el presente. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 105 profesores de varias Comunidades Autónomas, que fueron interrogados a través de un cuestionario de tipo mixto, que incluía preguntas cerradas y abiertas. Los resultados muestran la preminencia de personajes históricos muy conectados con la identidad nacional o regional y con valores destacados del presente, a los que se concede una gran significatividad histórica y, por lo general, un alto valor educativo. Sin embargo, los docentes suelen otorgar este valor educativo a los personajes como ejemplificación directa, positiva o negativa, de valores democráticos actuales, que pocas veces problematizan en su contexto histórico.
