Evaluation of Code Blue Application Results for the COVID-19 Period

Abstract

Code Blue is the emergency hospital code to ensure that the patient is resuscitated as soon as possible in case of sudden circulatory and respiratory arrest in hospitals. Code Blue team is the intervention team consisting of experienced and trained physicians and nurses in CPR at the hospital. In the study, the data of patients who were given Code Blue call between March 2020 and September 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. The average age of the blue codes were 54.78 years. As a result of the pandemic services application implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was at the top with 7 blue code calls from the pandemic services. As a result of CPR applied in true blue codes, 7 patients (53%) were accepted as dead, and 6 patients (47%) were transferred to the intensive care unit after rhythm was restored. As a result; CPR, which is applied in the shortest time and with a trained and experienced team, is an indispensable standard in terms of the importance and respect shown to human life, legal responsibility and quality health care delivery.
