Abstract
AbstractThe development of a constitutive model describing the deformation response of plasma sprayed metal matrix composite (MMC) foils during hot isostatic pressing (HIP) is described. A representative volume element of the composite is chosen whose constitutive behavior, including inelastic compressibility, is analyzed for the particular case of constrained uniaxial compression. Results of this preliminary model for the case of a SCS–6/Ti–14wt%Al–21wt%Nb intermetallic matrix composite are presented in the form of a density–pressure HIP map.
