1. Martha G. Anderson, Professor of Art History at Alfred University, has conducted extensive fieldwork in Nigeria on Central Ijo art. Her research interests include shrines, masquerades, canoes, and diviners, as well as the role art plays as sacrifice. In 2002, she co-curated the exhibition “Ways of the Rivers: Arts and Environment of the Niger Delta” and co-edited the accompanying catalog, which features a number of J.A. Green's photographs.
2. Lisa L. Aronson, Associate Professor of Art History at Skidmore College, conducted nearly two years of field research in Nigeria, including among the Ndoki Igbo and several Eastern Ijo communities. Her research and writing has focused mainly on the impact of trade and colonialism on African textile production and issues of gender in African art.
