INTEGRATION OF COUNSELING AND TEACHING: A CREATIVE PEDAGOGICAL PRAXIS

Abstract

The profile of teachers has undergone a change by the split up between advocacy and academics giving birth to counselling and teaching as separate professions. This sharp divide has serious economical and professional consequences specifically creating a gap between teachers and students. This paper is an evidence-based analysis for supporting the integration of teaching and counselling in the classroom situation. Qualitative data were drawn from theoretical views and models of accomplished teachers to emphasize that the role of a teacher is multifaceted which includes teaching, counselling, guidance, facilitating, and mentoring capable of rendering holistic support to the all-around development of students.
