Abstract
An apparatus has been designed and constructed on which a variety of learning experiments can be performed, e.g., classical, operant, probability, discrimination, multiple and paired-associate, both individual and social with up to six Ss. The equipment almost eliminates response and stimulus learning. Electrically it consists of a simple logic circuitry and a programming circuitry. Independently programmed are four sets of stimuli and one set of correct responses giving a large number of sequential and/or associative patterns of stimulus lights and response buttons for 1 to 6 Ss, with possible intercommunication among them. Four time relations between stimuli and/or responses are also under E's control. Once the program is set, the operation and recording of stimuli and responses are completely automatic. The design of the apparatus schematizes temporal, order and associative relations among variables thought to have importance in general learning theory.
