Abstract
Independent groups of Ss were presented with a list of semantically related, acoustically related, or unrelated words for 3 free-recall trials. While semantic relatedness induced significant amounts of clustering and facilitated recall, acoustic relatedness had no effect. These results are consistent with those found by Forrester and King (1971) for a mixed-list design.
