Abstract
The revised Byrne Repression-Sensitization scale and Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability scale were administered to 979 undergraduates to obtain further normative data for these scales. No significant differences were found between the means, variances, and over-all distributions of the present and original normative data. These results were seen as justification for the continued application of the original norms to other state university populations. Correlations of −.435, −.490, and −.454 ( p < .01) obtained between the two scales for males, females, and all Ss, respectively. This moderate degree of communality between the scales does not readily support the interpretation that the scales measure a single dimension or that they measure independent dimensions. Further empirical analysis of the scales' interrelationship seems necessary.
