Abstract
101 non-academic women were administered a Cosmetic Importance Scale, a measure of Body and Facial Cathexis, and Body Barrier. The results demonstrate that the degree to which cosmetics are important to the individual is directly related to body and face cathexis. Body Barrier did not relate to either measure of cathexis or to the importance of cosmetic variables.
