An Elementary Derivation of Stevens' Law and Fechner's Law from First Principles

Abstract

Stevens' Law is derived from the assumption that equal stimulus ratios produce equal sensation ratios and Fechner's Law is derived from the assumption that equal stimulus ratios produce equal sensation differences. Both derivations use only elementary properties of logarithms.
