Abstract

Vulnerability is a feature of our lives and, indeed, of all life. This entry explores different ways in which we experience vulnerability, including the fact that we have bodies and minds and are sociable creatures who live on a planet which is itself a vulnerable system of life. In each of these domains, vulnerability proves to be more complex than mere susceptibility to harm. It connects importantly to the value and meaning of life. The impulse tolimitour vulnerabilities can threaten that very value and meaning.
