Silver(I)‐Catalyzed Highly para‐Selective Phosphonation of 2‐Arylbenzo[d]thiazoles

Abstract

AbstractA method for the silver(I)‐catalyzed phosphonation of electron‐deficient 2‐arylbenzo[d]thiazoles has been developed. This strategy is highly regioselective for obtaining para‐selective phosphonation products by cross‐dehydrogenation coupling with good functional group tolerance and requires no prefunctionalization. This facile approach provides a practical route for synthesizing arylphosphine oxides. Mechanistic studies show that the para‐phosphonation occurs via a radical process.
