Abstract
With the excitement of MicroLEDs for displays, a variety of
different MicroLED architectures have been developed with
various advantages in power efficiency and manufacturing.
One lingering challenge of the industry is an intuitive
understanding of the angular emission patterns of the various
MicroLED architectures. The angular emission from the
MicroLED (in conjunction with its surrounding materials)
will determine the viewing angle of displays. Three common
MicroLED architectures are explored, modeled and simulated
with Finite‐Element‐Modeling. Native emission patterns
from the MicroLEDs are shown, along with an analytical
model as a generalized method to understand and predict the
angular emission of generic MicroLED architectures.
