Abstract
Subject. This article deals with the issues of enhancement of Russia's national security.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze whether Russia's national security indicators correspond to contemporary challenges, threats and risks, and assess this correspondence.
Methods. For the study, I used a systems analysis and programme- and goal-oriented planning.
Results. The article reveals the incomplete correspondence of national security indicators to current challenges, threats and national priorities. It confirms the feasibility of a comprehensive safety assessment based on an analysis of the degree of achievement of the planned indicators, taking into account reasonable critical values and comparing national and world indicators.
Conclusions. The proposed new criteria-based approach to security assessment will help determine the most important priorities for Russia's development in the near future.
