Abstract
The difficulties involved in predicting creep characteristics for three simple variable-stress situations are demonstrated. The inclusion of scatter data is shown to be essential for the correlation between theoretical and experimental results in all cases. It is concluded that it is not appropriate to resort to analytical methods that are more complex than those based on the mechanical equation of state.
