Abstract
Problems involving beams or plates which deflect until contact is made with internal restraints are examined using a modified form of the dynamic relaxation method. Three particular problems are considered in detail. The first a concerned with a laterally loaded beam restrained by an internal point support. Next the effect of a restraint surface positioned parallel to and a short distance away from an axially loaded strut is considered. Finally a study is made of the postbuckling of a square plate onto a line support positioned parallel to the loaded edges.
