Abstract
The genesis of the OIL code is the original Particle-in-Cell code written by Dr. Francis Harlow at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory (Ref. 1). The OIL code (Ref. 2) was then developed by replacing the discrete particle mass transport by a continuum, resulting in a near infinite particle representation. The TOIL code (Ref. 3) was then developed by extending the technique to two materials.
