Abstract
This paper discusses the move made by nurses practicing on a surgical ward to use the Burford NDU Model: Caring in Practice and the impact that “IT” has made on the way that some of the nurses care for the patients. The paper is constructed around two stories unfolded by Mary and Sharon that were shared within a guided reflection group facilitated by Janet, their ward manager and senior nurse. It highlights how guided reflection and the use of a reflective model of nursing can help change how nurses view caring and how they can become more aware that within each busy day caring can take place. The validity of nurses’ feelings about their work and those they care for is acknowledged.
