Abstract
Abstract
This paper provides a brief review of the interesting physics that arises from the use of detrending methods for time series analysis for the study of phenomena related to problems of adaptation to climate change. It presents illustrative examples of some of the newly developed or already existent methodological solutions that can be used to study climate phenomena, and of three sectors —public health, infrastructure and cultural heritage— where statistical physics tools can be utilized. In the context of adaptation to climate change statistical physics can offer data-led understandings that are of wider value to the scientific community and applicable local-scale insights.
