Abstract
Haptoglobin, prepared from pig plasma, was separated into two components by gel filtration in guanidine hydrochloride solution, after reduction and aminoethylation. These were identified as homologous with the heavy and light polypeptides of human haptoglobin 1-1. Similar treatment of the complex formed by pig haptoglobin with human hemoglobin enabled separation of the hemoglobin and haptoglobin polypeptides.
