Abstract
A nearly complete analysis of the third spectrum of Co (Co III) is given, based chiefly on observations in the vacuum ultraviolet region. The chief structures found are 3d7, 3d6 4s, 3d6 4p, and 3d6 4d. The last of these is not commonly found in third spectra and it is here very incomplete. Some cases of unusual intensities in intersystem combinations are pointed out, especially ones in which the intensity in the combinations with the central of three J values is zero or very small. The complete line list is given.
