Abstract
E1 transition strengths in, 19F are calculated using wave functions obtained by projection from three particle and four particle, one hole intrinsic states. With an effective charge which takes into account the influence of the giant dipole resonance, calculated B(E1) values are in agreement with experiment if the hole is allowed to have a reasonable p3/2 component.
