Abstract
New methods are suggested for distinguishing primary electrons above 1014 eV from other primaries based on their synchrotron radiation in the geomagnetic field. In addition, it is shown that the synchrotron gamma-ray emission from electrons above 5 × 1018 eV may be used to detect these electrons at distances up to 1015 m from the earth with collection areas of about 107 km2.
