Fractionation of DNA on columns of poly-L-lysine supported on kieselguhr

Abstract

Native DNA was eluted from poly-L-lysine kieselguhr columns with a shallow gradient of NaCl DNAs rich in guanine and cytosine preceded those low in these bases in the elution, and DNAs of low molecular weight preceded those of high molecular weight. Calf-thymus DNA was fractionated to give preparations differing in buoyant density.
