Abstract
It is shown that the paper of Maes and Amat, which explains the anomalous frequencies of the ν6, J = 2 ← 1, K = 0 lines in CHF3 and CDF3 by taking into account a strong mixing of K = 0 and K = 2 levels, also predicts accurately the Stark effect of these transitions. In addition, the perturbing J = 2, K = ±2, l = ±1 level of the ν6 = 1 vibration of CHF3 has been found at the position they predict. Further examination of the ν3 + ν6, J = 2 ← 1 line has removed the uncertainty in the assignment of the ν3 + ν6 and ν2, J = 1 ← 0 transitions.
