Hydrogen bonding in lidocaine salts. I. The stretching band and its dependence on the associated anion

Abstract

By means of deuterium exchange, the [Formula: see text] band was identified in a series of lidocaine salts with varying anionic size. A value for the free [Formula: see text] stretching frequency was obtained which permitted [Formula: see text] to be related to anionic radius. Similar relationships were found for triethylamine and pyridinium salts using frequency data available in the literature. Four new lidocaine salts (HI, CF3CO2H, HAsF6, and HSbCl6) are reported.
