Abstract
The relationships of Trifolium uniflorum L. (2n = 32) to T. repens L. (2n = 32) and T. occidentale Coombe (2n = 16) were studied by determining chromosome associations at metaphase I in interspecific hybrids. In a hybrid between T. uniflorum and autotetraploid T. occidentale the number of quadrivalents was 2.81. In four plants of the hybrid T. repens × T. uniflorum the number of quadrivalents ranged from 0.58 to 2.25. The presence of quadrivalents in the hybrids indicates that T. uniflorum, T. repens, and T. occidentale may share a similar genome.
