Abstract
Type specimens and other collections of Aporpium caryae (Schw.) Teixeira and Rogers, Protodaedalea japonica Imazeki, and Protomerulius brasiliensis Möller are described and illustrated. The three taxa are dimitic and have clamp connections and sphaeropedunculate basidia. Gloeocystidia are present in Protomerulius and Protodaedalea but are lacking in Aporpium. The basidiocarp of Protomerulius is subiculate and readily strips from the substrate; that of Aporpium is usually asubiculate and strongly attached. Shelving fructifications, surface features, and unusual basidial form distinguish Protodaedalea.
