Abstract
Laser-etching techniques that induce different surface topographies for CdS were found to be an essential step for Schottky-diode fabrication. In this study, after a specific etching time, the CdS surfaces develops microscopic cones (pyramids). The density of the cones depends on the period of etching. The influence of these cones on the electrical properties of Schottky diodes (Au–CdS) are reported. The resulting changes in the I–V (current-voltage) characteristics and C−2–V measurements of the Au–CdS diodes are recorded. The barrier heights to these junctions were found to be strongly dependent on the topography of the CdS surfaces.
