Analysis of 2-Amino-2,6-dideoxyhexoses by Partition Chromatography

Abstract

2-Amino-2,6-dideoxyhexoses can be analyzed by gas–liquid partition chromatography of their 2-acetamido-1,3,4,5-tetra-O-acetyl-2,6-dideoxyhexitol derivatives prepared by borohydride reduction of the parent aminoglycoses followed by acetylation of the resulting aminoglycitols with acetic anhydride in the presence of sodium acetate. Paper chromatographic analysis of the 2-amino-2,6-dideoxyhexoses and their N-acetyl derivatives is also described.
