Abstract
X-ray microscopy is a rapidly developing field that could benefit greatly from λ ≤ 4.5 nm Free Electron Lasers (FELs). Work in holographic microscopy could make possible the recording of sub-optical resolution images of hydrated specimens in a matter of milliseconds. We will discuss the exposure requirements of x-ray holographic microscopy, the opportunities and problems associated with reducing exposure times to the millisecond range. and the potential that FELs hold for dramatically advancing work in this field.
