Laser cooling of payloads to 124 K: Implications for high precision optical clocks

Abstract

Optical refrigeration has cooled a payload to 124 K by suppressing parasitic lasing and improved thermal management, towards cooling silicon reference cavities for optical clocks. The effects of nonlinearities on power scaling will be discussed.
