Cydnidae pigmentation

Abstract

Abstract Cydnidae pigmentation is caused by the arthropod Chilocoris assmuthi which is also known as the burrowing bug. The lesion is characterised as asymptomatic brownish red macules which develops on contact with the bug. The sudden onset of such asymptomatic lesions can cause panic to the patient and can also simulate other melanocytic lesions. Hence knowledge about the condition is important to reassure the patient about the harmless nature of the condition and relive their anxiety. We also report a case of nail pigmentation due to Cydnidae in our case series.
