Abstract
The article describes the case of a 6-month-old Hucul mare with an additional second finger of the right thoracic limb. The surgery to eliminate the deformity was planned on the basis of the clinical picture and the results of radiological examination. The additional finger was removed along with a fragment of the second metacarpal bone. The postoperative management and rehabilitation went well. The horse showed no lameness in the follow-up examination. The outline of the phalango-metacarpal joint of the operated limb was slightly enlarged. There was also a minor deformity in the palmar area of the third metacarpal bone. The procedure of a complete amputation of the additional finger with a fragment of the second metacarpal bone made it possible to use the horse later and produced a satisfactory cosmetic effect.
