3. Column chromatography. Isolation of compound 1; Medium pressure CC was performed using a PrepChrom C-700 system (Büchi, Essen, Germany) with a silica gel column (EcoFlex Silica 40-63 μm, 80 g) at a flow rate of 10.0 ml/min. The employed linear gradients started with 100% hexane to 100% CH2Cl2, and then proceeded from 100 % CH2Cl2 to 100 % MeOH, yielding a total of 22 fractions. Fraction B12 eluted with 65% CH2Cl2 and 35% MeOH (v/v) contained compound 1. Sephadex LH-20, mobile phase: CH2Cl2-Acetone (85:15; v:v); 2 cm ×100 cm. Semi-preparative HPLC, Waters e2695 (isocratic: 80% MeOH, 20% water) ; column: Nucleodur C8, 1 cm × 25 cm. Isolation of compound 2 the hexane extract was chromatographed by medium pressure CC (PrepChrom C-700) on silica gel (column: Sepacore Silica 40–63 μm, 80 g, 194×31 mm) using a flow rate of 10.0 ml/min. The employed linear gradients started with 100% hexane to 100% CH2Cl2, and then preceded from 100 % CH2Cl2 to 100 % MeOH, yielding a total of 22 fractions. Fraction A12 eluting 25% hexane and 75% CH2Cl2 contained compound 2. This fraction was further purified by Sephadex LH-20 [CH2Cl2-Acetone (85:15)], 2 cm×100 cm.
