Abstract
A hyperfine interaction study of the light rare earth elements, Ce, Pr, Nd and
Pm, in the rare earth nickel and
CeNi2Al5 compounds by means of the
low temperature nuclear orientation is summarised. The magnitudes and
directions of the magnetic hyperfine fields obtained through measurements of
γ-ray anisotropy and angular distributions reveal the magnetic structures
of the ions. The experiments extracted peculiar results for the magnetic
properties of the ions, and show certain novel features of the technique to
the study of solid-state magnetism.
